Research and Analytics Department

The MPL Association’s Research and Analytics Department leads the development of resources and data-driven insights that provide industry-relevant intelligence, actionable information, and enable transformative change within the medical professional liability insurance landscape.

Our core areas of expertise include MPL insurance, healthcare risks, and economic factors that impact the MPL companies.

We constantly strive to enhance and expand our internal data collections and research capabilities. This includes:

  • Publishing the MPL Industry Overview & Analysis report series, featuring comprehensive market reports and periodic “Special Focus” reports
  • Forming strategic partnerships
  • Conducting special data calls
  • Offering enhanced tools, including dashboards, analytics, and reports customized to members’ needs
  • Providing tailored solutions to support strategic goals and operational needs
  • Contributing to research initiatives, surveys, and publications

Data Sharing Advisory Committee (DSAC):

MPL Association members are invited to engage biannually through the DSAC, which provides a forum for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and input on data-related initiatives. The DSAC is comprised of two groups: the subcommittee focuses on the ongoing development and enhancement of the DSP, and the full committee serves as a broader forum for discussion of hot topics, collaborative opportunities, and emerging trends in the MPL industry.

The MPL Association welcomes partnerships with member companies, academic institutions, nonmembers, and others with MPL interests for research and education projects using DSP data. Through collaboration, we can contribute to studies on MPL trends, risk factors, and outcomes; support education development and inform policy development or operational decisions. To request data, please complete the online data request form and a member of our team will follow up with next steps.
