With a new Congress and new White House both focused on repeal of the Affordable Care Act, medical and healthcare professional liability (MPL/HPL) insurers and their policyholders have many urgent questions. Will the entire law be repealed, or just some parts of it? Will the U.S. healthcare system revert to what it was before 2008, or will a whole new system emerge? How will repeal directly impact the MPL/HPL community? To tackle these questions, and many more, PIAA has convened a panel of experts who will tell us what the future likely holds for the ACA and what the potential ramifications may be for MPL/HPL insurers. The panel will examine what new healthcare liability risks and exposures could arise in a post-ACA era. They will examine what is entailed in the “repeal and replace” process, and explain what Congress appears poised to do. The panel will also explore a critical issue for our industry: the continued prospects for using the ACA as a mechanism for reducing future damages—i.e., how repeal could affect efforts to use "guaranteed issue" healthcare insurance policies in lieu of future damage awards. Irrespective of your particular focus within MPL/HPL, this webinar will provide you with exactly what you need to know for succeeding in the new political environment and optimizing its impact on your organization.
