Patient compensation systems (PCSs) would apply a workers’ compensation-type system in place of the current medical liability process in the states. While hailed by some as the next great reform, an examination of the specifics reveals that PCS proposals would in fact be harmful to doctors, patients, and taxpayers alike. As such, organized medicine, PIAA and its members, and others have begun proactive efforts to head off such legislation in states where a PCS has gained some ground. In this webinar, speakers from state medical societies will share the essential details on what the promoters of PCS are doing to advocate for it, what strategies PIAA and other interested parties are employing to combat it, and why you may find this or similar legislation in your state in the near future.
