Job Description
We are looking for a candidate who is highly motivated, results oriented with solid business and underwriting acumen. The position will be responsible for driving profitable growth, along with maintaining key relationships for new and renewal business. Given Integris Group’s broad writings within the Medical Professional Liability Industry, the business underwritten includes all medical professional industry classifications. The ability to lead and collaborate with team members company-wide, as well as with senior management, is essential to the role. Underwriting duties will include developing and negotiating price, coverage, terms, and conditions for all new business and renewals while actively identifying account opportunities. The candidate must implement and manage effective pricing and rate strategies that will produce profitability, book growth, and successful relationships. This position reports directly to the Vice President, Underwriting in our Glastonbury, CT home office.
Responsibilities
- Solicit new submissions from insureds, agents, and brokers
- Review current insured risks from insureds, agents, and brokers
- Determine terms and conditions, review rates and pricing objectives
- Establish and maintain strong broker and client relationships
- Lead client meetings and marketing calls
- Achieve production, profitability, renewal retention & rate goals
- Exhibit strong communication skills and service excellence in client response time
- Perform complete Underwriting analysis
- Ensure meticulous documentation of underwriting files
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years of Underwriting experience
- CT Producers License (renewed annually)
- Medical Professional Liability, Cyber, and/or general insurance industry knowledge
- Excellent knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures
- Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience underwriting Medical Professional Liability, preferred
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Proven analytic, marketing and negotiation skills
Location
The Company currently follows a hybrid office/remote work schedule:
- Tuesday-Thursday – In office, Glastonbury, CT
- Monday and Friday – Option to work remotely (following completion of introductory period)
Business Travel
- Required; approximately 10-15%
